Congratulations, class of 2017!

Western Washington’s 11 Catholic high schools are sending 1,457 graduates — 755 women and 702 men — out into the world this spring. On behalf of the entire Archdiocese of Seattle, Northwest Catholic is proud to honor the members of the class of 2017 for their achievements.

Archbishop Murphy High School

The 27th graduating class at Archbishop Murphy High School will have 134 graduates, 77 men and 57 women. Father William Heric will celebrate the baccalaureate Mass June 1 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bothell. A reception will follow. The commencement exercises will be held June 2.

The valedictorians are Trevor Johnston, Sarah Murphy of Holy Cross Parish in Lake Stevens and Brittany Ligman of St. Michael Parish in Snohomish. The salutatorian is Jacob Lucas of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Woodinville.

Bellarmine Preparatory School

The 2017 graduating class at Bellarmine Preparatory School includes 242 students, 123 men and 119 women. It will be the school’s 89th graduating class. Jesuit Father Tom Lamanna will be the celebrant and homilist at the baccalaureate Mass June 1 at 9:30 a.m. The commencement exercises will occur June 4 at 11 a.m. at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall. The academic class speaker is Thomas Martin. The class speaker is Vincent Karanja.

Bishop Blanchet High School

Bishop Blanchet High School’s 60th graduating class has 220 members, 104 men and 116 women. A senior awards ceremony will be held May 27. A baccalaureate Mass will be celebrated June 2 at 9:30 a.m. in the school gym. Dominican Father Jordan Bradshaw will celebrate and give the homily. The commencement exercises will be held that evening at 6 p.m. in the gym. Captain John Hayes, a 1973 graduate, will speak.

The valedictorians are Nicolas Dangla, Ginger Markow, Natasha Moini, Micah Perry and Emma Wells. The salutatorian is Edie O’Connor.

Eastside Catholic High School

The class of 2017 at Eastside Catholic High School includes 148 graduates, 88 men and 60 women. It will be the school’s 35th graduating class. Father William Heric will celebrate and give the homily at the baccalaureate Mass June 2 at 7 p.m. The commencement exercises will be June 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Benaroya Hall in Seattle.

The valedictorians are Andrew Charters of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Woodinville, Rachel DePencier of St. Joseph Parish in Issaquah, Maria Gregg of Mary, Queen of Peace Parish in Sammamish, Jamie Krueger of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Snoqualmie and Paul Riddle of St. Joseph Parish. The salutatorians are Elena Beeck of Holy Family Parish Kirkland, Adrienne Co of Mary, Queen of Peace Parish, Henry Gilchrist and Shubra Tewari.

Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart

The 109th graduating class at Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart will include 45 women. On June 5 at 10 a.m. a baccalaureate Mass will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Chapel on campus. Father Bryan Dolejsi will be the celebrant and homilist. Tom Manion will be the speaker at the commencement exercises on June 6 at 5 p.m. at St. Madeleine Sophie Church in Bellevue.

Christina Chai and Colleen Campbell are the valedictorians. Isabela Tavarez-Brown is the salutatorian.

Holy Names Academy

The 2017 graduating class is the 137th for Holy Names Academy, and it includes 177 women. A baccalaureate Mass was to be held May 25 at 1:15 p.m. at St. James Cathedral. Father Michael G. Ryan was to be the celebrant and homilist. The commencement exercises were to be held May 28 at 7 p.m. at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. The speaker was to be Kathleen McGinn, class of 1976, a professor at the Harvard Business School. Valedictorian Jordan Oakes and salutatorian Audrey Vila will also speak.

The valedictorians are Aparajita Chauhan, Sarah Embry, Hana Ferrero, Grace Melone, Katherine Mockett, Evelyn Morrison, Jasmine Ngai, Jordan Oakes, Katherine Olson, Katharine Rothmeyer and Krista Round. Salutatorians are Olivia Battison, Margaret Clipson, Gabriella Frank, Mary Gallant, Kate Guion, Margaret Hill, Brooke Hopkins, Samantha Price, Colleen Shikany and Audrey Vila.

John F. Kennedy Catholic High School

John F. Kennedy Catholic High School’s 48th graduating class is composed of 192 students, 108 men and 84 women. Father Bryan Dolejsi will celebrate and give the homily at a baccalaureate Mass June 2 at 9:30 a.m. at the school. Commencement exercises will occur that evening at 6 p.m. at the school.

The valedictorian is Allison Zubeck. The salutatorian is Emily Sprague.

O’Dea High School

The class of 2017 at O’Dea High School includes 81 men. It is the school’s 92nd graduating class. The baccalaureate Mass and commencement exercises were to be held May 31 at 7 p.m. in St. James Cathedral. Father Michael G. Ryan was to be the celebrant and homilist. Principal James Walker was to speak.

The valedictorian is Adam Kures of Holy Family Parish in Kirkland. The salutatorian is Jason Wong of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Seattle.

Pope John Paul II High School

Pope John Paul II High School’s fifth graduating class includes 20 students, 10 men and 10 women. Father Jim Lee will be the celebrant and homilist at a baccalaureate Mass June 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Lacey. Commencement exercises will be held June 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the Westside Chapel of St. Michael Parish in Olympia. Roy Heynderickx, president of St. Martin’s University, will be the speaker.

The valedictorian is Alexandra Rivera of St. Michael Parish. The salutatorian is Hieu Vu of St. Michael Parish.

Seattle Preparatory School

Seattle Preparatory School is graduating 162 seniors this year, 90 men and 72 women. A baccalaureate Mass was to be celebrated May 28, at 7 p.m. at St. James Cathedral. Jesuit Father Paul Fitterer was to celebrate and give the homily. Commencement exercises were to be held May 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. The class speakers, chosen by their peers, were to be Gabriel Berger and Eleanor Pessner.

Seton Catholic High School

Seton Catholic High School’s sixth graduating class is made up of 36 students, 21 men and 15 women. Father Gary Lazzeroni will celebrate and give the homily at a baccalaureate Mass June 2 at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Church in Vancouver. Commencement exercises will occur June 3 at 11 a.m. at the school. School president and principal Ed Little will speak.

The valedictorians are Richard Frank Torres of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Vancouver and Emily Mae Martin of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish.
