A traveling production about the woman who began the Divine Mercy devotion will visit four local parishes in February.
“Faustina: Messenger of Divine Mercy” tells the story of Polish nun, Faustina Kowalska, a Sister of Our Lady of Mercy, whose visions of Jesus led to a worldwide devotion. The Catholic Church recognized Christ’s appearances to Sister Faustina, which started in 1930. The iconic Divine Mercy image came from Sister Faustina’s vision of Christ with white and red light streaming from his heart.
Sister Faustina was named a saint in 2000. Two years later, Pope John Paul II declared the Sunday after Easter to be Divine Mercy Sunday.
