CRS, other NGOs pledge total of $1.2 billion to help world's refugees

WASHINGTON - Eighty-six percent of the world's refugees are living in developing countries and it is particularly hard for those countries to meet refugees' needs and provide them an education and a livelihood, according to a senior policy and legislative specialist at Catholic Relief Services.

In Seattle talk, CRS speaker shares challenges and hope

It’s been many years since Thomas Awiapo was a young and often-hungry orphan in Ghana who found food and an education at a Catholic Relief Services-supported school. But, in a March 2 talk in Seattle, Awiapo reminded those gathered that too many children around the world, including in the U.S., still go hungry or rely on schools for their primary meals.
