Remembering the recently deceased in the Archdiocese of Seattle

JoAnn Bernovich, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, died March 25, of cancer. She was 86.

Born in Roundup, Montana, she moved to Washington as a young girl and grew up in Eatonville; she lived the last 60 years in Federal Way. She worked as a secretary for Weyerhaeuser in her 20s, then as a bank teller until her retirement in 1988.

At her parish, she was active in the choir, on the wedding committee and delivering food for the poor. She was also involved with community bands and the Federal Way Senior Center. She played piano, organ, clarinet, saxophone and banjo.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling, rooting for local sports teams, and spending time with her family, friends and pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bob.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jim; sons, Jeff and Guy; and two grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 6 at St. Vincent de Paul Church.

Margaret “Peg” Snyder BloomfieldSEATTLE

Peg Bloomfield, a member of Assumption Parish, died Feb. 9, of pneumonia. She was 101.

Born in the Bronx, New York City, she worked as secretary to the vice president of an oil company after graduating from high school. During World War II, she met and married James Bloomfield, an Army officer from Seattle stationed in New York. When James retired from the military in 1965, they moved to Seattle.

She worked for many years in the trust department of the former Peoples Bank in downtown Seattle

She was preceded in death by husband, James; and son, Jim.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lesa Clark; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 6 at Assumption Church.
