Remembering the recently deceased in the Archdiocese of Seattle

Sister Jacqueline ChristianASTON, Pennsylvania

Sister Jacqueline Christian (formerly Sister Andrew Marie), a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia, died Aug. 4. She was 80. 

Born in Aberdeen, she entered the congregation in 1957 and professed first vows in 1959. She studied nursing at St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Tacoma and became a registered nurse. Later she earned a B.S. in nursing from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. 

She spent 43 years ministering in the Diocese of Baker, Oregon. For 23 years she worked as a nurse and in medical records at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton, Oregon. She ministered at Kairos House of Prayer in the Diocese of Spokane, and ministered in Tacoma. 

In 2014 she served in prayer ministry at Assisi House, the congregation’s retirement residence in Aston, Pennsylvania.

She is survived by a brother, Richard Christian; sister, Carol Elliott; and nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 10 at Assisi House in Aston.
