Mario A. Di GraziaCAMANO ISLAND

Mario Di Grazia, a longtime Camano Island resident, died July 12. He was 88. 

He was born in Seattle and graduated from Cleveland High School and the University of Washington. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a metallurgist at Bethlehem Steel before retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the American Legion. He loved gardening.

He is survived by his son, Michael; daughter, Susan; a sister, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held July 17 at Holyrood Cemetery.

Marian Margaret “Peggy” Redinger DrevesSPOKANE

Marian Dreves, a former member of St. Louise Parish in Bellevue, died July 4. She was 84. 

She was born in Spokane and graduated from Holy Names Academy in 1948. She then entered the Sisters of the Holy Names in Marylhurst, Oregon, and was known as Sister Margaret Joan Redinger. She earned a B.A. and M.A. in education and taught in Tacoma, Seattle, Richland and Spokane. She served in parish administration in Seattle and Spokane and in the Archdiocese of Seattle. She also worked with Veronica Beacom Dreves in early childhood religious education until Veronica’s death in 1986.

In 1987 she received a release from her vows and religious community to marry Martin P. Dreves Sr. She remained in Bellevue and was active at St. Louise Parish before relocating to Spokane in 2005.

She was preceded in death by her husband and step-son, Martin P. Dreves Jr.

She is survived by three brothers; numerous nieces and nephews; step-children Viven Rose, Christine Rose, Julia Miller, Thomas Dreves and James Dreves; 13 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas More Church in Spokane, and a memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Louise Church in Bellevue.

Josefina del Castillo MacaraegSEATTLE

Josefina Macaraeg, a member of Holy Family Parish, died July 25. She was 65.

She was born and raised in Lingayen, Philippines, before moving to Seattle 36 years ago. She was a dietary host at Providence Mount St. Vincent before retiring last year.

She was active at her parish with the Legion of Mary and as an extraordinary minister of holy Communion

She is survived by her husband, Oscar; sons, Cyril and Cliff; and three brothers.

A funeral Mass was celebrated August 2 at Holy Family Church.
