Richard “Dick” Kennedy

BELLEVUE

Dick Kennedy, a member of Sacred Heart Parish, died November 26. He was 82.

Born in Utica, New York, he graduated from St. Bonaventure University. He served in the Army, rising to the rank of captain, and had a long career in public finance. He married his wife, June, in 1965.

He was active in volunteer work, including at his parish, parochial schools and the St. James Cathedral Kitchen. He served on boards for Camp Brotherhood, the Matt Talbot Center and the Archdiocese of Seattle. He enjoyed gardening, daily walks, sports and travel, especially to Italy.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; brother, Kernan; son, Patrick; daughters, Cara and Katy; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

A funeral Mass was celebrated December 7 at Sacred Heart Church.

Carmen LaPonte

SEATTLE

Carmen LaPonte died November 4. She was 92.

Born in Chicago, she married her husband, Michael, in 1945. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael.

She is survived by her sons, Michael, Paul and Peter; daughter, Roseann; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A vigil will be held at Barton Funeral Home on December 15 at 10 a.m., with internment at Calvary Cemetery on December at 1 p.m.
