Sister John Thomas Hackett, BVMDUBUQUE, IOWA

Sister John Thomas Hackett, a member of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, died Dec. 13. She was 94.

She was born Anna Bernice Hackett in Sioux City, Iowa. She entered her congregation in 1940 and professed final vows in 1948.

Within the Archdiocese of Seattle she taught at Bishop Blanchet High School. She also was a teacher and assistant principal in Chicago, Illinois; Butte, Montana; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She is survived by her sister, Helen Elaine Costello of Manchester, Missouri; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hackett in Sioux City, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

Jacob Henry “Jack” TheisenMOUNT VERNON

Jacob Theisen, a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, died Jan. 8. He was 83.

He was born in Sumas and lived in the Mount Vernon area his entire life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carla Holden Theisen.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church.
