Remembering the recently deceased in the Archdiocese of Seattle

Mary Elizabeth Wilson DiJulioMERCER ISLAND

Mary Elizabeth DiJulio, a member of St. Monica Parish, died March 14. She was 95.

She was born and raised in Seattle and graduated from West Seattle High School and the University of Washington. She was a homemaker who enjoyed golf, bridge and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George DiJulio.

Survivors include her sons, George Jr., Chris, Pat, Doug and Matt; daughters, Betsy and Lisa; 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. 

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 18 at St. Monica Church.

Eileen O’Brien HinnebuschSEATTLE 

Eileen Hinnebusch, a member of St. Catherine Parish, died March 14. She was 96.

She was born and raised in Seattle. She enjoyed bridge, swimming and Bible study.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Hinnebusch; and sons Michael and Fred. Survivors include her sons Joe, Jim and Bill; daughters, Mary Kay, Teresa and Ann; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 18 at St. Catherine Church.

Rosemary Zurfluh MettierPUYALLUP VALLEY

Rosemary Mettier, a member of St. Martin of Tours Parish in Fife, died March 15. She was 89.

She was born and raised in the Puget Sound area. She was a member of the Tacoma Orthopedic Guild. 

She is survived by her husband, Charles; and nephew James Lonsbery.

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 22at St. Martin of Tours Church.

Cecilia Sinnett RuttkaySEATTLE

Cecilia Ruttkay, a member of St. Joseph Parish, died Feb. 28. She was 73. 

She was born and raised in Seattle, received a B.A. in education and worked as a teacher before retiring in 2006. She enjoyed drama, softball, knitting and quilting.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Ruttkay; son, Bryan; daughter, Brianna Ballweber; and three grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 11 at St. Joseph Church. 

Sister Dorothy Zimny, SP (Sister Margaret Yvonne)Seattle

Sister Dorothy Zimny, a Sister of Providence for 80 years, died March 23 at St. Joseph Residence. She was 99.

She was born in Melrose Park, Illinois, and moved to Spokane as an infant. She entered the Sisters of Providence in 1935 at Mount St. Vincent in Seattle. She professed final vows in 1940.

Her first ministry was teaching in Montana and Idaho. In 1951 she received a B.A. in education in Montana. In 1967 she received a B.S. in medical record library science from Seattle University and a Registered Medical Records Certification from Providence Hospital in Seattle.

From 1955-1978 she was in health care services including as bookkeeper, admissions clerk, medical records department head, librarian and consultant in Spokane, Seattle and Walla Walla.

After retiring at 80, she enjoyed arts and crafts, calligraphy and crocheting. In 2012 she moved to St. Joseph Residence in Seattle.

She is survived by nieces and nephews. 

A funeral Mass was celebrated March 31 at the chapel at Mount St. Joseph in Spokane.
