Holy Names Academy

Elisabeth recently published a children’s book, Little Lion, the sales of which will fund the printing and distribution of books for children in Ethiopia. She is a member of the Holy Names’ Pacific Northwest champion History Bowl team and carries a 4.154 GPA. A parishioner at Seattle’s Our Lady of the Lake, she’s also a volunteer speech coach at the parish school.

Alexander Duong

O’Dea High School

“Alex is a quiet and authentic leader on campus,” said nominator John O’Neill. He’s a school chaplain, secretary of the National Honor Society and extraordinary minister of holy Communion at school Masses. He tutors students in math and Spanish and carries a 4.0 GPA. A parishioner at St. James Cathedral, he volunteers at St. Therese School and is an accomplished piano player.

In each edition through June, Northwest Catholic will honor students for their achievements and contributions in the classroom, in their extracurricular activities, and in their churches and communities. At the end of the school year, two Students of the Year will be selected to receive $1,000 Northwest Catholic scholarships.
