Lent, a time for personal conversion

Over the years, I have noticed that the crowds at Mass on Ash Wednesday rival even Christmas and Easter. There is something attractive about being called to renew our relationship with God, about the penitential nature of the day and of this season that is fundamentally about conversion.

Archbishop Etienne announces pastoral and strategic planning efforts

SEATTLE – Archbishop Paul D. Etienne has written a letter to the people of God in the Archdiocese of Seattle. In the letter, the archbishop calls the church to “renew our commitment to the mission of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ” and announces new pastoral and strategic planning efforts.

Archbishop Etienne addresses call for ‘lay-led’ review of abuse files

SEATTLE – Archbishop Paul D. Etienne has written a letter to the people of the Archdiocese of Seattle in response to articles that appeared January 28 in the Seattle Times and the Seattle P-I about a group of lay Catholics, called Heal Our Church, who have written to the archbishop calling for “the creation of a lay-led Truth and Reconciliation Commission” to review “all files related to the sexual abuse scandal.”
