Below is the text, in English and Spanish, of the homily Auxiliary Bishop Eusebio Elizondo preached at the 25th annual celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, December 1 at St. James Cathedral.

The Hispanic community draws crowds to honor the Virgin and St. Juan Diego
Advent is a time of waiting and preparing, both for the celebration of Jesus’ birth at Christmas and for his second coming at the end of the world, when he “will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end,” to quote the creed.
The Archdiocese of Seattle has been celebrating the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas, with a procession and Mass for 20 years. This year's celebration took place on Dec. 6. Read more about the celebration.
