Remembering the recently deceased in the Archdiocese of Seattle

JoAnn “Jan” BarcottTACOMA

JoAnn Barcott, a member of Holy Cross Parish, died April 7. She was 85.

Born and raised in Puyallup, she attended Aquinas Academy and St. Joseph Nursing School, where she graduated with a nursing degree. She was a co-founder of the Navy Nurse Corps Association and helped establish their museum. She was a member of the Dominican Sisters for seven years.

She is survived by her brother Ken and nephew Paul Hanson.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated April 28 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church.

Leo Bernard James CostelloKIRKLAND

Leo Costello, a member of St. John Vianney Parish, died of natural causes March 31. He was 83.

Born and raised in Seattle, he attended St. George School, O’Dea High School and Seattle University. He served in the Navy. He worked in the restaurant business and with the King County Court.

He was a member of the Crozier Society, the Knights of Columbus and the Serra Club. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol; brother John; brother-in-law Doug Axelson; and 15 nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 9 at St. John Vianney Church. 

Father Anthony DomandichVANCOUVER

Father Anthony Domandich, a priest of the Archdiocese of Seattle for nearly 58 years, died March 31. He was 91.

Born in Hoquiam, he graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1943, then served in the Army until 1946. After the war, he earned a degree in mathematics from the University of Washington. After attending St. Edward Seminary, he was ordained to the priesthood May 24, 1958, at St. James Cathedral. 

He served as pastor at St. Nicholas Parish in Gig Harbor (1970-74), St. Joseph Parish in Vancouver (1974-85) and Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Kelso (1985-95). He also served at Sacred Heart Parish in Bellevue (1958-67), St. Alphonsus Parish in Seattle (1967-70), Mount St. Vincent in Seattle (1958) and St. Joseph Hospital in Aberdeen (1958).

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 13 at St. Joseph Church.
