Remembering the recently deceased in the Archdiocese of Seattle

Sister Veronica Grennan, BVMDubuque, Iowa

Sister Veronica Grennan, a member of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, died Nov. 22 at Marian Hall in Dubuque, Iowa. She was 103.

She was born in Sterling, Illinois, and entered the Sisters of Charity in 1931, professing final vows in 1939. Within the Archdiocese of Seattle, Sister Grennan taught at Bishop Blanchet High School. She also taught elementary and secondary school and was a principal in Chicago, Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, Iowa, and Portland, Oregon. In Rock Island, Illinois, she also served as a counselor and in pastoral ministry.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Alice Butler in Jacksonville, Florida, and her nieces and nephews.

She is buried in Mount Carmel cemetery in Dubuque.

Paul LeBrunEdmonds

Paul LeBrun, a member of Holy Rosary Parish in Edmonds, died from heart complications on Nov. 4. He was 89.

He was born in Langdon, North Dakota. He earned a business degree from the University of Portland in 1950. He was a controller for Ballard Hospital and retired in 1988.

At his parish he was a reader at the daily Mass and was a member of the Serra Club of Seattle. He also enjoyed golf and travel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lily.

He is survived by his sons, Greg and Bob; daughters, Joan, Jenny and Kim; his brother, Leo Conkle; 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass was celebrated November 18, 2016 at Holy Rosary Church.
