Verda Hanby, formerly a Seattle resident, died Oct. 18. She was 91.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hanby; and her son, Robert Hanby. She is survived by her niece, Pamela Nitche-Armstrong; and her son Haland Hanby.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 23 at St. Vincent de Paul Church.

Sean Patrick MacRae MurphyJERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY

Sean Murphy died Oct. 16. He was 32.

He was born in Seattle and graduated from Seattle Preparatory School, the University of Washington and Columbia University School of Law. He moved to New Jersey in 2006 and worked as an attorney. He was a member of the New York and New Jersey Bar Associations. He enjoyed traveling and had set foot on all seven continents.

He is survived by his wife, Kristen Brewer; parents, George and Eileen Murphy; and brother, Michael Murphy.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 25. 

Edmund Glen ThomasEDMONDS

Edmund Thomas, a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Lynnwood, died Oct. 15. He was 93.

He was born in Snoqualmie. During World War II, he served in the Army. He was self-employed as a land developer. 

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rose Thomas; brother, Myron; and sisters, Ruth Mills and Shirley Stailey.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 27 at St. Thomas More Church.

Dennis Mulligan WilsonPUYALLUP

Dennis Wilson, a longtime Washington resident, died Oct. 14. He was 74.

He was born in Butte, Montana. He enjoyed baseball and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Dennis and Peter. 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Madeline Ann Wilson; sons, Patrick and Paul; daughters, Ann Levin, Mary Sue, Julie Jean, Kathleen Ann, Christine Patricia, Carolyn Mary and Michelle Theresa; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Oct. 20 at St. Andrew Church in Sumner.

Raymond Joseph WirtzLYNNWOOD

Raymond Wirtz, a founding member of St. Thomas More Parish in Lynnwood, died Oct. 18 from leukemia. He was 81. 

He was born in Yucca, North Dakota, and moved to Washington as a young boy. He graduated from O’Dea High School. He served in the Army as a sergeant in the Korean War. He was a commercial painter.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Wirtz. Survivors include his sons, Gregory, Todd, John, Chris and Bill; daughters, Sharon and Laurie; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was interred at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline.
